I can so relate to that! After high glucose bloodwork and then discontinuing diet pop.
I went off it totally for about six weeks; saw improvement, but then have gone back to drinking more Decaf Diet Coke.
Right now my blood work is a mess due to medicines for my heart acting up, so getting a true blood sugar reading is just not happening. Doctor even added 325 MG of IRON A DAY! Constipation and blood sugar do NOT go together! That lasted about four days. Now I am pushing the fiber and lots of water!

Everyone's body is different.

I have found the caffeinated coffee will raise my blood sugar by 30-50 points.

However, the caffeine found in drinks like Coke Zero is sufficiently low to have a negligible effect on my blood sugar levels.

So, I just drink decaf and generally don't worry about it.

But everyone is different, you will need to test for yourself how caffeine affects you.

Organicman... Providing links to back up your comments would be helpful to anyone wanting more info on organic living. This Op was stating that 'diet' coke was a bad thing, not that it would help a diabetic, but would harm tham as the caffine raises blood sugar throuout the day. Might be my problem as I drink about 3 to 4 cokes & dr peppers a day. gotta give that up now for a while to see if it helps...good thing I like water. Pretty soon it will be all I can have lol1

As for fitness you can be the best looking and most muscular guy in the gym and still keel over one day due to the fact that you may not be putting the right foods in your body. You cannot get these foods off your regular grocery store shelf.

There are many things to consider if you want to be healthy and #1 is finding out the requirements of the human body as for nutients needed. PH levels in the foods you are eating so that you can adjust your meals according to alkalinity or acidic values. Finding out where you stand at the PH level. What foods are alkaline producing and what are acidic....much much more than stress reduction techniques. I am not sayin that stress reduction is not good. It is a great thing to ADD to your life. Eating the right foods will greatly reduce this as you acquire the nutrients that your body needs to function properply and KEEP YOU HEALTHY. Above all you must first get rid of the toxins in your intestine that have built up over the years from the food that we are being fed. It all has one thing or another in it that will combine with everything else you eat to pile up as waste in you body and stop it from absorbing the GOOD NUTRIENTS that you ARE TRYING TO PUT IN YOUR BODY.

That and do not ever take medications from your doctor again. If you do these things you can become a much healthier person who does not need all the antibiotics the pharmaceutical industry dishes out to you that are going to rob you of your health from the inside out.

Drinkingdiet coke is in no way going to help you.You may want to do some research on the "sweeteners" that have been added to these "diet" drinks. It has been found that

1-all diet drinks will make you gain weight. Give you the urge to drink more and eat more.

2- Chemical sweeteners such as sucralose and aspartame are in no way good for you and your body.

I will leave it at that. Look it up yourself and do a little more research if you are truly interested in being Healthy

Wow. I had no idea. Two cans of Diet Coke so far...

But I have to ask why you added all those tempting links to uber-caffeinated drinks?
