New App Helps Teens With Diabetes

A new app that has been developed for the iPhone and iPod is giving type 1 teen diabetics a new way to manage their condition. Called DiaPETic, the new app makes the busy lives of teenagers who have diabetes a little bit easier.

It allows them to test their glucose levels every day as well as giving them an ability to track blood sugar levels to make sure that they are eating a healthy diet.

The app allows the user the ability to create an avatar that helps to encourage them to test their glucose levels and provide advice on managing their diabetes. Users can unlock certain processes to gain points that can then be exchanged for accessories to customize their personal avatar.

It comes with a range of technologies that help diabetics to improve their condition including a portable insulin delivery gadget which can be transported in the pocket or around a neck chain. There is also a new, early stage wearable artificial pancreas which gives users the ability to have a tubeless insulin pumping and continuous glucose monitoring setup.
